Explanation: One of Thrace's largest mounds, Toptepe, was mostly destroyed during the construction of a holiday resort. Those layers at the bottom which date to the Chalcolithic and which escaped destruction contain four periods and more than eight structural layers. 14C samples are from a structure in the fifth building level of the third period and from the third building level of the second period.
