It is located on the Karaman road; approximately 40 km southeast of Konya. The pothole lake consists of the Mezosoic limestones. The pothole lies on the northern slope of the hill; and was formed within the Neogene aged lacustrine limestones. The deepest point of the pothole is 34 m. From topography to the water level; the depth is between 10 and 14 m. The direction of the water movement in the pothole lake is from south-southeast to north-northwest. As with other potholes; the Timras pothole is also effected by precipitation. Due to the fact that it is near the euphotic zone; the changes in the water level are sudden and volumed.
