Location: It is located near the town of Topçam of Mesudiye; in the south of Ordu; along with Çagman Cave. They are both in a region fractured by the deep valleys of the Melet River that empties in the Black Sea; just east of Ordu.
Structural Properties and formation : Topçam; and Çagman which is just northwest of Topçam are both elements of the same underground system; they were formed on a fault line in E-W direction. Both caves which are passage type and fossilized are near the valley basin. Topçam Cave which has a steep entrance 10 - 15 m above the valley basin; consists of two intereconnected galleries in east-west direction (one of them is clogged).The cave width is 1- 6 m; the ceiling height is 2-12 m. It is extremely poor in dripstone formations; and filled with debris; sand; pebbles. The western section of the cave is blocked by the debris; and blocks; although the eastern end was closed by a narrow crack due to the fault line. The water that drips from the ceiling during rainy seasons form small ponds in the western sections.
Research History: It was researched by the Karst; and Cave Researches Unit of the Geological Studies Department of the MTA General Directorate; and published in 2004.
Findings: It is observed that a few bats live in some sections of the cave.
