Location: It was developed in the middle of the big steepness where the district of Inönü leans on; to the southwest of Eskisehir. It can be reached by the Eskisehir-Inönü-Kütahya motorway or the Ankara-Eskisehir-Istanbul railway. With a very large mouth of entrance; it can be easily seen from far.
Structural Properties and formation : The vicinity of the cave which is located on the southern edge of the Inönü (Sarisu) Plain was formed by the Lower-Middle-Upper Triassic aged metamorphites underlying the Neogene sediments and basalts. The mouth being opened in the fault plane was shaped depending on the strike and joint system of the marbles. No decorations are available; however local rock columns characterizing the fast water flow were developed. It is a fossil cave formed in the vadose zone.
Research History: It was found by A. Kansu in 1939; and some archaeological finds were uncovered. As there is a small cave 50 m above the big one; Kansu named them Inönü A and Inönü B. It was explored by MTA; and its map and other characteristics were published in 2001.
