Location: This site lies 6-7 km north-northeast of the city of Adiyaman; 3 km north of the villages of Büyük and Küçük Pirun (also known as Pirin); 2 km before arriving at the village of Palanli; directly east of the village of Gebel; in the Palanli Valley. It is possible to reach the cliff-like rock drop-off that the cave is located in via a narrow trail. The cliffs are 400 m west of the road. The construction site road; which is parallel to the stream; passes in front of the cave.
Structural Properties and formation : It has two entrances. It is about 20 m long and 5-10 m wide. E. Anati introduced the cave as Palanli; probably it has no local name.
Research History: It was found by E. Anati; who visited the Palanli-Pirun Rock Shelter to see the illustrations; which are now unknown; in 1968. It was re-explored by E. Bostanci in 1970; and introduced to the scientific world.
Findings: It is claimed that there are 45 illustrations made by scraping and battering techniques on the inner part of the eastern wall. The illustrations were grouped in four by Anati according to the technique applied and their styles. Among all; the ones at the second and third phase are told to be made by battering rather than carving.
