Beycesultan
(Denizli/Civril/Mentese)

This is one of the most important Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age mounds in western Anatolia. The scientific community frequently refers to this site as the premier example of pioneer settlements. The Behice Sultan mausoleum dating back to the 13th century is also located on this hill. Drainage canals are dug to the east and south of the mound. There have been several scientific excavations over the years, but the unprotected mound is now under routine assault of illicit digging despite the fact that it is officially under protection.
