Yarimburgaz Cave
(Istanbul/Kucukcekmece/Altinsehir)

Located within the Istanbul province, this four hundred thousand year old cave is left completely unprotected. This is the oldest recorded settlement site in Turkey. It was used as a church during the Byzantine era. Today the ever-growing Altinsehir Township is creeping in on it. Once even used a film production set, this cave is filled with poke marks left by fortune seekers and also bears the scars of pneumatic drilling equipment used by unauthorized excavators.
