It is situated in the Malkarüstü location, 8 km east of the Kursunlu (Elegmi) Village in the Gemlik District of Bursa. Based on the finds, C. Mango and I. Sevcenko claim that it may have been either a monastery or a church. Among the finds are an almost complete rectangular block (0.57x0.65 m), a few broken blocks, fragments of Ionic impost capitals, one of them bearing a cross on one side and an egg - arrow motifs on another side, and ambon fragments. It is likely that they are from the 6th century [Mango-Sevcenko 1973:268]. |
