The location known as the Sampson Xenodochion, between Ayairini and Ayasofya at Sultanahmet Quarter of Istanbul was studied in 2008 by F. Özgümüs et al.. Özgümüs claimed this is Episkopion. The most attractive of the remains is the opus sectile flooring. It is assumed, that the flooring was not dated to the same period as the church. The decoration made of polychrome stones is one of the most beautiful examples among floorings. The decorations consist of lozenges and stars of David [Özgümüs 2010:399-400].
