It is situated on the right bank of the Hanak Stream at so called Morev Mevkii, 3 km north of Ortakent, 6 km east of the Hanak District in Ardahan. The inscription is probably dated to the reign of the Urartian King Argishti I. It reads: "God Haldi went on a campaign with his own weapon. Captured the enemy land of Tariu. (and) captured... By the command of God Haldi, Argishti says: King of the land of Diauehi appeared ahead of me and paid me (tribute) (?). I expelled... city of AhuriaÉ city of Qu[]uniÉ There, 72.080 fleshy cattle 7000É 11É Partly I slew, and partly I took alive. I razed 6 fortresses, and burnt 50 cities. Argishti, the son of Menua (is) the mighty king, great king, king of Bianili, lord of the city of Tushpa".. Whoever destroys this inscription, may God Haldi (and) God Quera remove him from before the sun É ". |
