Only a few Iron Age settlements could have been visited during the surveys conducted at the Botan Valley and Çattepe due to security concerns. All settlements except Yazlica Yani were founded on high terraces on the river banks. They are probably flat single-phase settlements, not following earlier traditions. The typical local Iron Age pottery consist of remarkably S-shaped bowls in various forms with inverted rims, and the ones with incision decorations on the bands enclosing the vessel [Velibeyoglu et al. 2002:788]. |
