It overlooks the Euphrates River, 25 km to the northeast of the Agiyabuş Village in the Merkez District of Malatya. It lies on a natural elevation with a steep slope, approximately 60 m in diameter. The elevation consists of a gravel deposit. The settlement covers the slope of the hill facing north with a deposit thickness of ca. 5 m. It was discovered by the Prehistory Department of Istanbul University in May 1977 followed by a surface collection and delineation study. The mound has been heavily destroyed due to illicit diggings, stone and soil removals. Some of the ceramics collected are dated to the Iron Age. |
