It is within the borders of the Agzikarahan Village in the Merkez District of Aksaray, approximately 4 km to the east of the village. It is surrounded by a water channel to the south, and by lands to the other directions. It was discovered during the Survey of the Nevsehir, Nigde and Aksaray Provinces conducted under the direction of H. Sever in 1990. It meaures 80 m in diameter, and around 20-25 m in height. The Phrygian and Classical Periods were identified based on the surface finds. Agzikarahan Höyük lies on the Aksaray-Nevşehir motorway just like Alayhan Höyük. |
