It lies on a flat and shallow hillock 1 km south of the Kirkdegirmen Village, approximately 25 km west of the Ercis district center in Van. Remains of a somewhat thick wall was found on the southwestern end of the hillock, which was damaged as a result of illicit diggings. 100 m to the south of the hillock lies a necropolis area including many graves. All of these graves have been extremely destroyed by the treasure hunters. The grave stones were erected using corbelling technique, and covered by lid stones. Presumably the grave chambers had a size ranging from 3 to 4 m. Based on the ceramic finds collected from the surface, it is dated to the Iron Age. |
