It is located in the Altintepe District of Bayburt. It differs from other underground settlements with its carvings and masonry. Despite of its tuff bedrock nature, which can be easily and effortlessly carved, it doesn't have a regular plan suitable with the hall and passageway. A fine masonry is observed at the stairs and walls of the passageway. Forming sherds consist of trefoil mouthed liquid and solid containers. They were all made using fast-running wheel at high heat. Decoration is rare in such vessels. Six graves were found at Aydintepe. The first grave includes lots of bones, and sherds, mostly dating to the 3rd to 2nd Millennium BC. The second grave yielded sherds from various periods. The third grave includes finds dating to the 3rd Millennium BC and the Roman Period while in the foruth grave there are finds from the late 2nd Millennium BC and Iron Age. The firth and sixth graves include forming graves. The finds uncovered at the Aydintepe Underground Settlement indicate influence from the Roman and Late Hellenistic Period.
