It is supposed to be located on the southeastern part of the hill beneath today's city in the center of Aksaray Province. Although there was no pottery of EBA recovered from the lower levels during the digging of foundations; the presence of finds dating from the second millennium BC suggested the possibility of an older settlement. The deeply digged foundations yielded the traces of walls with an indefinite age. The starting of today's city can be dated back to the third millennium BC as it was suggested by J. Mellaart who didn't provide further information. A detailed survey is necessary. |
