It is situated 5-6 km north of Ercis district on the north shore of Van Lake. The nearest settlement to the pond is Isikli or Münevver Village which is 2 km northwest. The pond is approximately 1.6 m southwest of Yukari Kizvardar Pond. The pond wall is roughly in crescent form, that blocks the west direction. The pond walls were built using andesite stones that were locally provided. The pond wall has an average width of 5 m, it is 176 m long. The facility has been dysfunctional a very long time. The water running from the pond towards the west direction, fall down from high andesite rocks and irrigate the cultivated lands below. It is the only pond that was built inside the high rocks at the East Anatolian Region. Similar to Yukari Kizvardar Göleti it was built in 7th century BC [Belli 2009:309]. |
