It is located in Akbayir Town in Elbistan District of Kahramanmaras Province. It was found during the survey performed by Konyar and his team in 2010. Quite thick and 8-10 m high mud-walls and mud-wall fill have been seen on the mound. Under these mud-walls or mud-wall fills, a few rows of stone wall erected with medium or large sized stones and the thickness ranges from 0.8 m, 1 m to 1.5 m. Between these, burnt layers and traces of floors have been seen. The collected sherds from the mound represent especially the general features of EBA pottery which was known from the settlements in Elbistan Valley. Orange and red slipped jars have straight rim, low neck, hemispherical body and rounded base. While the bowls have straight rim, open mouth, bell-shaped and globular-shaped body, there are also examples of dark-faced, burnished ones in same type. In addition, EBA pottery known as Elating-Malatya painted wares ornamented with painted band decoration have been collected [Konyar et al. 2012:36-37]. |
