It is situated on the hill which rises immediate west of Yukari Yildiran Kalesi and higher than Yildiran Kalesi; 2 km north of Yildiran Village; 24 km west of Horasan District of Erzurum Province. It was discovered during the survey performed by Günasdi and his team in 2010. The mound is located at a dominating position for Aras valley. Although the fortification walls have been almost destructed, the beds can be seen in patches. There is cliff on the south of castle. The northern side is more flat. The collected sherds from the surface are dated to Late Chalcolithic, EBA and IA [Günasdi et al. 2012:55]. |
