It is located on the summit of Araboglu Hill (Çirisli Tepe); next to Emirli Village in Kavak District of Samsun Province. The sanctuary appears in the Samsun Culture Inventory which was achieved after the surveys organized by the Samsun Special Provincial Administration Directorship of Development and Construction in 2009.It consists of two interlaced oval shaped walls. The walls were erected with roughly carved stones. The outer wall is 12 m in length and 2 m in width. The height of the walls ranges from 50 cm to 100 cm. The middle section of the inner wall is concave. In this area, the offering was performed from Archaic Period to Roman Period. The area was known as "yatir" (entombed saint) by local people. The dimidiate cult stone (Beithylos) was encountered between the walls. |
