It lies on the shore; about 3 km east of Intepe (Erenköy) Village; southwest of Çanakkale Province. It is located on the western end of a ridge extending in parallel to the sea. There is a flat and long hill and a coastal line in between. The mound begins from the skirts of the castle that was built in late periods and extends towards west. To the west flows the Incirli Stream. There are two fresh water springs under it. It was discovered by J. M. Cook. Harapkale houses a city belonging to the Classical Age. Besides the Classical Period; materials dating from the Troy II; Troy VI and VII periods were collected from the surface. The survey conducted in 2011 yielded material which could be dated to LBA, EBA and Late Chalcolithic. The fill containing stones were observed inside the illicit digging pits on the hill. It was assumed that this artificial hill was a tumulus. Even though the date of the settlement is not yet certain, the soil belonging to the Late Chalcolithic was used for tumulus, as it is seen in Beşik-Sivri Tepe, or a tumulus was built on the Chalcolithic settlement [Aslan-Polat 2013:8,9].
