It is located 3 km northeast of Bakacak Village in Refahiye District of Erzurum Province. It was discovered during the survey conducted by Özgül and his team in 2011. It has a strategically significant position. Çukurçimen Village is located on the south of the fortress. On its southeast, Kelkit Creek and Mirza Village is located. Steep mountains covered with yellow pines surround the south of the fortress. A natural path runs from its north. It overlooks the region and has a strategically significant position. A cave was discovered on its south slope. According to the information given by local people, there was a stepped water channel. However, it couldn't be discovered. It is suggested that the tunnel might have been filled. The fortress controlling the valley is situated on the bedrock. There is an area which is thought to being used as sanctuary on the east and south sections of the fortress. The entrance of the fortress is placed on the northwest. Potsherds indicate that this fortress was inhabited during IA and IA [Özgül et al. 2013:282]. |
