| It locates 2.5 km northeast of Yüregil Town, in Dazkiri District of Afyonkarahisar Province. It was discovered during the survey carried out by Ö. Koçak and his team in 2014. It measures 300x390 m and 25 high. It extends in the northeast-southwest direction. There are finds dating to EBA, MBA, LBA, IA, and Hellenistic and Roman periods on the surface. The finds dating to IA are seen mostly in the south, east, and northeast sections, while the EBA and the 2nd millennium BC finds concentrate in the north-northeast sections. EBA wares consist of brown and grey slipped sherds with abundant mica inclusion. A conical loom weight, which is intact, dating to probably the 2nd millennium BC was found. There are "black on red" sherds among the IA pottery. A sherd with a deer head decoration is the most interesting piece among these IA wares [Koçak et al. 2016:32-3]. In 2015, the mound was visited for mapping studies [Koçak et al. 2017:246]. |
