| It locates on the rocky hill overlooking the vicinity, about 500 m northeast of Hançerli Village, in Merkez District of Nigde Province. It was discovered during the survey conducted by Semra Balci and her team in 2015. Among the finds, which concentrate on top of the hill, there are Late Roman-Early Byzantine wares, Neolithic/ Chalcolithic and EBA wares and obsidian fragments. The potsherds dated to Neolithic/Chalcolithic consist of brown or black slipped on light color surface. The sherd belonging to EBA is buff colored, and with a coarse, gritty paste. It bears trace of red paint on its rim and body. There are flake core with multiple striking platforms, four unidirectional blades, one lateral blade, and a large number of thick and thin flakes, and small-sized knapping waste. Some of the flakes and blades were formed as tools. These tools are end scraper, burin, and retouched flake, notched flake and retouched blade. Also, a Quina-type lateral blade on thick flake dated to Palaeolithic was found. This tool was produced from basalt [Balci-Çakan 2017:14-5]. |
