Alçinar/ Saçmaca Höyük lies In the Ayaklicaoluk Quarter of Dulkadiroglu District, Kahramanmaras province. The mound covers an area of approximately 9360 square-meters. Pottery found during the survey is classified in two separate groups. The first group consists of red-orange pottery dated to the Late Chalcolithic and the beginnings of the Early Bronze Age. They are slightly darker than the similar pottery found within the region. The second group is the plain simple ware that is dated to Early-Middle Bronze Age. All examples of this group are coated and non-burnished. The main forms are ring bases, vertical handle sherds and notched pottery impressed with floral designs [Dumankaya et al. 2018:5-6]. |
