Evci Höyük is located at the Evcihöyük Quarter of Elbistan district, Kahramanmaras Province. The mound is located at 1228 m altitude and covers an area of approximately 9844 square meters [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 388]. Evci Höyük is dated to the Late Chalcolithic Period, the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Bronze Age, the Early Trans-caucasian /Karaz Period and the Hittite Period [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 388]. There are three different wares found within Evci Höyük. First of them is the dark faced Trans-caucasian/ Karaz pottery with slightly lighter interiors. Similar pottery had been found within the region at Evri, Akbayir I-II, Akpinar, Çogulhan, Tudegin and Karacaören Höyük. The second group is the plain simple ware dated to the Early Bronze-Middle Bronze Age. They are cream-coated and have flaring rims. Lastly, the third group consists of gray faced Hittite pottery [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 388]. |
