Günesli Höyük is located at the Bakis Quarter of Elbistan district, Kahramanmaras Province. The mound is located at a 1360 m altitude and covers an area of approximately 4851 square meters. The mound is dated to the Early and Middle Bronze Ages. Among the wares documented at Günesli Höyük, the first group consists of the cream-coated plain simple ware with exterior-thickened rims. They are dated to the Early Bronze and Middle Bronze Ages. Similar pottery had been found within the region at Boyali, Büyükyapalak Büyük, Büyükyapalak Küçük, Büyükyapalak Gök and Çinarli Höyük. Another group is the so-called "Elazig-Malatya Painted Ware". They are mostly body sherds painted with grid band motifs. In terms of form, Günesli Höyük pottery consists of exterior-thickened rim sherds, flat-base sherds and a body sherd with ridged border. A tube-shaped stone find with a narrowed oval rim is significant among the other finds. Because it is broken the find has a semi-circular form [Dumankaya et. al. 2018: 586].
