It lies 1.6 km north of the village of Medet; about 7 km southwest of Tavas; 13 km south-southwest of the province of Denizli. It is It is a pretty large mound on the eastern end of Tavas Plain. The mound is northeast of the motorway and to the north of it is the Denizli Yem Factory. It can be seen on the 1:200;000 map. The mound was discoered by J. Mellaart during his survey of Southwestern Anatolia. Mellaart has marked the site to the immediate southeast of the village of Medet. Potsherds which can be dated to the Chalcolithic and EBA II-III were collected from the surface. A decorated spindle whorl that can be assigned to the EBA was also found. |
