It lies 3.1 km northeast of Saçakli Village; northeast of Hatay Province. The site was discovered in 1995; during the Amuq Plains Survey conducted by the Chicago Oriental Institute. Hirbet alÐHajar was named as AS (Amuq Survey) 180. The settlement began in the middle and the late 3rd Millennium BC and lasted until the Late Roman and Early Islamic Periods. However; a very little amount of cooking pots; dating back to the Amuq F/G phases; were found during the surface collecting.
