It lies on the ridges facing Ertugrul Village located at Ziyaret Mevkii; about 1.5 km south of the Yenihayak Village; 1.2 km southeast of Seyfe Village; some 33 km southwest of Çorum Province. Some metallic finds recovered from a probable EBA cemetery at Yeni Hayat Village are preserved at the Museum of Çorum. The museum has been continuously supplied with new materials recovered from this village. Likes of the shaft-holed axe are also preserved at the Museum of Amasya. It was first interpreted that this axe resembling the two headed axes came out of a grave [Özgüç 1980:pl.XIII/2]. It is impossible to propose a certain argument regarding this interpretation. During the Çorum Survey conducted under T. Sipahi and T. Yildirim; the site was re-visited. Piles of stones and sherds of pithos were uncovered. In 1996; among the sherds of a pithos grave disturbed recently; a spindle-whorl was found. It is clear that the damage is still going on. |
