Kulabtar Rock Shelters are in Duyduk (Harabebezikan) village in Birecik district; Sanliurfa province. They are located at the northern side of the Kulabtar Stream [Taskiran-Kartal 2001:519]. The area in front of the shelters slightly slopes down towards the stream and the northwest. This quite large flat area measures about 100x50 m. The north of the area is a rocky bluff of moderate height containing rock shelters and above is a rocky hill rising towards the northeast [Taskiran-Kartal 2001:519]. This site was discovered in 1999 by a team leaded by H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Carchemish Dam Reservoir Region" coordinated by METU TAÇDAM (Center for Research and Assessment of the Historic Environment). The small flake and blade tools found on the terrace of the shelters in the direction of the stream; questionably date the site to the end of Palaeolithic or to the Epipalaeolithic. A couple of small pottery sherds and fragments of tools that might be grindstones were also collected [Taskiran-Kartal 2001:520]. Code W49/28.
