It is located to the south of Abir Tepe; east-southeast of the village of Salat in the district of Bismil; province of Diyarbakir. It was discovered in 2001 by a team leaded by H. Taskiran during the project of "The Palaeolithic Survey in the Ilisu Dam Reservoir Region". Generally flakes and blades produced with the Levallois technique were encountered. The common tool types are nibbled and notched examples. 2 biface tools are thought to be the earliest Palaeolithic finds. Code S60/65. |
