It is located to the east-southeast of the village of Elmakaya (Later); east of the district of Bulanik in the province of Mus. It is in the East shore of İncesu Creek. To the north of the mound cultivated areas and to the northeast of it village cemetery and houses take place. Later/Elmakaya mound is 250 m north-northwest of the mound. This site has been observed and documented during TAYEx 2003 Black Sea-Eastern Anatolia regions [TAYEx 7.7.2003]. It is documented during the survey carried out by Biber-Çavuşoğlu in 2009. The 35 by 60 m mound has an oval plan in East-West direction. The mound has a flat-conical form. A wall with a variable height between 3.0 and 3.5 m is preserved to date constructed in the West of the mound for protecting the mound from the creek. The wall is made of basaltic stones which are larger than 1 m and laid in five rows. The construction technique of the wall and the pieces collected from the surface suggest inhabitancy during Urartian Period. And EBA (?) and MA potteries are encountered on the surface [Biber-Çavuşoğlu 2011: 208]. |
