It lies in Kale Quarter; right on the eastern side of Afsin District; north of Kahramanmaras Province. At present; it is surrounded by modern buildings. It is a flat mound. It measures 15 m in height and 120-130 m in diameter. During the survey conducted in 1962; Cappadocian-like ware; production of EBA was collected from the surface as well as the fine simple ware which was also found at the other mounds of the Amuq Plain. Because of the remains of the Byzantine walls; it is considered to be the ancient city of Arabissos. It is referred to as Afsun only by Von der Osten. |
