It is a middle size mound occupied by the modern buildings in the middle of Altinova Village; north of Birecik District of Sanliurfa Province. It is in front of the ridges starting from north and overlooks the plain. It has a steep cone and there is a new mosque on it. The mound was discovered during the survey managed by Birecik-Suruç Archaeology Team of TÜBA in 2001. It is reported that because of hand made pottery is still being used in the village it is hard to determine the sherds. There are Halaf; EBA and Middle Ages material as well as Neolithic straw tempered coarse ware sherds. Survey code N39A015. |
