It lies 8.5 km northeast of Harran. It measures 250 m in diameter, and it is 11 m high above the plain level. The western and southern skirts of the mound have been occupied by a modern village settlement. The hilltop has been used as a cemetery at present. Thus, it has been under the threat of a complete leveling process or remaining beneath the modern settlement. Also known as Yünlüce and Tell Ganem, the following periods were identified: - Chalcolithic Age (Halaf, Ubaid, plain straw tempered ware) - Early Bronze Age (sandy fine ware, metalic ware) - 1st Millennium BC (sandy plain mica ware) - Roman Period (Terra Sigilata like red washed ware, body fragments) - Medieval-Islamic Period [Yardimci 2004:126-127]. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
