It lies 4.5 km northeast of Harran. The mound has a base diameter of 200 m, and it is 10 m high above the plain level, housing a new settlement on the southern skirts. Also known as Tilkicik, the eras identified on the mound are as follows: - Chalcolithic Age (chaff- tempered plain ware, body fragments) - Early Bronze Age (fine sandy plain, painted, black burnished coarse ware) - 2nd Millennium BC (plain ware, body fragments) - 1st Millennium BC (fine plain ware, body fragments) - Roman Period (washed fine ware) - Medieval-Islamic Period (cream-beige sandy paste plain ware) [Yardimci 2004:132-133]. |
