It is situated 1.8 km south-southeast of the Kelekli (Sara) Village on the western bank of the Euphrates River, southeast of Nizip and provincial center of Gaziantep [Algaze-Rosenberg 1991:145]. Komeçli is a long mound, extending 250 m long in north-south direction, and 110 m east to west. It covers an area of 6.8 acres with a height of 2 m. Lying 1.8 km from the modern Sara Village, it has been destroyed to build a garden. The identified eras include Late Chalcolithic and Iron Ages. It should have been around 1,2 acres in size during the Iron Age [Algaze et al. 1994:57]. |
