| It lies to the east of Turgutreis; southwest of the Bodrum Disrict of the Mugla Province. The surveys conducted by Bean and Cook in 1950's yielded architectural fragments made of marbles and slightly dressed blocks; which were used in the construction of the modern houses in the village. Also; it is believed that one inscription in Athens is originally from this ancient settlement. The inscription refers to a village so called Mpalaas. There is a snake relief below the inscription. The inscription relates Pluton with Hermes; and the letters I; A and W are interpreted as the name of god in Hebrew. It is reported that these letters and the snake relief are common in amulets [Bean-Cook 1955:129; 136]. No information was provided on dating of the remains. |
