The two adjacent mounds are located within the territory of Yozgat Province. In 1939; K. Bittel carried out a rich surface collection from the higher mound housing sherds of an older period. The collection covers samples of blackish gray ware dating from the Chalcolithic Age; nail impressed and red washed Alisar MBA ware as well as EBA ware. Sherds dating from the EBA; decorated in reddish-brown; washed in a variation from brown to light brown; comparable to the Ciradere ware were recovered. A vast majority bears nail impressed decoration while some has spaces left in the form of unwashed bands. Sherds of a vase bear decoration made by means of a cutter instead of nail impressed decoration; which is indeed identical to the vessel recovered from the grave D of Alacahöyük. Sherd of a small cup among the painting decorated wares recovered is comparable with the painting decorated wares of Çiçekdagi. K. Bittel reports that the ware he called Cappadocian was also recovered. |
