It is accessible through a shoreline road to the southwest from Akbük; east of the Didim District of the Aydin Province. There is no modern village around. It was identified during a survey conducted by Bean and Cook in 1954; yielding ancient blocks; ashtray-like oil presses; a small building with an arched roof and an apsed building at two sites so called Tatlikuyu and Yavankuyu. The press found at Tatlikuyu is carved into the rock; and it measures 2.3 m in diameter; and higher than 1 m. An inscription was uncovered at Yavankuyu [Bean-Cook 1957:108; 114]. No detailed information has been provided about the dating. |
