It has been obscured by the District of Atabey (Ağras); 23 km northeast of the Isparta Province. To the south of the wide plain strecthing in front of Atabey rises the Davras Mountain of the Northern Taurus Range. Agrai should have been founded by the immigrants who arrived in Anatolia from the west in the 8th-9th centuries B.C. [Kaya 1991:251; footnote 5]. Once having the status of a village under Seleuceia Sidera; which is located 5 km to the south; Agrai developed in time and became a city. During the investigations carried out by D. Kaya; some inscriptions from the ancient city were unearthed in the district center. It is also believed that the ancient settlement so called Kelian; of which the remains were identified at the Kapicak Village of Atabey; was also included within the territorium of Agrai (see Kelian).
