Uncovered from an ancient settlement called Ayne near the Beyazsu Spring in the Çag Çag Valley, the seal was made of blackish-grey serpentine. It is 2.93 cm high with an imprint lenght of 3.75 cm, and a diameter for cord of 1.18 cm and a hole diameter of 0.29 cm. It was roughly incised in a schematic linear style. The surface of the seal was delimited by horizontal lines on the upper and lower sections. A monotous composition scheme is observed. The theme observed in this seal is a "drinking scene", the most common subject during the Neo- Assyrian Period. A figure wearing a typical long Assyrian dress was depicted sitting on a simple throne. Across him, a servant holds a rectangular fan in his left hand extending forward. Between both figures is a typical Assyrian ceramic with a pointed base and its footstall. Behind them is a crescent. The figure on the throne probably holds a phiale in his extended right hand. Like the seal of Stune, this seal is also similar to the seals in the Neo Assyrian Period, which were unearthed during the excavations at Girnavaz. |
