It is located 2 km northeast of Hayrettin Village; 7 km north of Merzifon District; Amasya Province. It is also called Hayrettin 1. It measures 150x100x15 m in dimensions. The surveys revealed the presence of a Late Iron Age settlement as well as settlements from the First Bronze Age II-III, Middle Bronze Age, Late Bronze Age and Hellenistic Period based on the sherds collected. Among the finds is fragment of a crested and undecorated bowl, with an externally thickened lip, and an inverted rim. A similar bowl was found at the building level Ia of Bogazköy/Büyükkale. Another specimen is a painting decorated jar with a flaring rim and a narrow neck, and its decoration which composes of thick bands covering the entire surface should have been dating to the late phases of the Late Iron Age. A similar decoration was observed at Alisar Höyük. Also found are sherds from the Early and Middle Iron Age. |
