It lies 2.5 km southeast of the Morhamam Village in the Arguvan District of Malatya. Abundant number of sherds are found on the slope of a natural hill facing the Euphrates, however the settlement area cannot be certainly identified due to plantation on the hill. It seems that the archaeological deposit is not so thick as western sections are rocky and skirts facing the Euphrates are deposited with alluvion. A few sherds dating to the Iron Age were collected from the surface. Presence of sherds dating to several ages from the Early Bronze Age can be explained by destruction of the deposit due to natural erosion. It was first identified and surveyed on June 1977 by the Department of Prehistory, University of Istanbul. |
