It is situated 1 km southwest of the Salur Village, 12 km northwest of the Ladik District, southwest of Samsun. It lies to the immediate east of the Ladik-Istasyon Tepe motorway, and 600 m north of the Tersakan Brook. The skirts of the mound were truncated and heavily destroyed for agricultural purposes. It is locally known as Taslipara Mevkii. It was discovered by K. Kökten, N. Özgüç and T. Özgüç who conducted a survey in the region in 1940 and 1941. Presence of sherds resembling the ones at Dündartepe and Alacahöyük is reported. It was revisited under the direction of U.B. Alkim and, a surface collection was made. Alkim reports presence of the sherds from the 3rd Millennium BC. And, sherds dating to the 3rd and 2nd Millennia BC, Iron Age and Roman Period were collected during the survey conducted in 2001 by M. Özsait et al. Yük Tepe had been inhabited during the the EBA, MBA, Iron Age, Hellenistic, Roman and Late Ancient Periods.
