The Kirikköy Menhirs are located 2 km south of the Çömlekakpinar (Kirikköy / Çömlekpinar / Çömlek) Village, on a hill called Kirikköy, lying in north-south direction. They were discovered by R. Esin in 1969. The findings by Esin and the photographs taken during the surveys were published by S. A. Kansu in 1969. Kansu identified the remains as a cemetery consisting of many upright monumental stones, and described them as menhirs (monolythes), with an unknown date [Kansu 1969:res. 8-9]. They lie on a natural hill in the middle of a plain and planted area. The fields continue towards the area of the megaliths. At the end of the plain area are hills to the east and west; a stream and its valley to the east. The menhirs were placed in circular groups; the ones on the cape have a central location. The Kirikköy menhirs were also the surveyed by a team under the direction of M. Özdogan, and was thoroughly examined during the post-graduate study of R. Erdogu. The menhirs cover an area of 165x65 m. The menhirs consist of three different groups. Two of them are well preserved and survived to date, but the third group was destroyed for agricultural purposes, left in stones only. Menhirs are located on a leveled platform and the location of the group was marked via an oval ditch with pointed ends, dug outside the platform. There is a tumulus on each of the pointed ends of the oval ditch. The stones were classified by Erdogu according to their body and upper forms. Besides, 0.5 cm deep "cup-marks" and "V" shaped decorations were identified on stones.
