It was discovered during the survey called "Fortresses of the Turkish Period" conducted in the Thrace Region in 1995 by I.H. Kurtulus. It is located at the Gözyaka Mevkii, 4 km far from the Demircihalil Village, north of Kirklareli. The three sides of the hill on which the remains lie are very steep. The fortress is accesible through a natural plain ground from the southwest. The northern, eastern and southeastern sections of the fortress are naturally fortified by the rocky blocks. Remains of fortifications can be traced on the west and southeast. Two buttresses outside the southern fortification are noteworthy. They project for 30 cm from the wall, and they are 80 cm wide. The roughly dressed stones derived from the rocky blocks were used as construction material. The fortress was built around the bedrock on the hilltop. The walls were built using the dry masonry. It is reported to be from the Thracians.
