It lies 54 km southwest of Igdir. With a north-south orientation, the reservoir expands onto an area of 2 to 3 squarekilometers. It has a very restricted amount of water at present. The reservoir waters of the Katirli reservoir were supplied by the rain, snow and spring waters from the high hills as well as a channel which consists of the stream waters resulting from the combined waters of the Aslanli and Yassibulak Villages. The wall enclosing the eastern section of the Katirli reservoir has been rebuilt in 1984 by the Directorate of Rural Services in Agri, with no remains left from the ancient wall. The reservoir was built to irrigate the agricultural areas. The nearest arcaheological settlement is the Asik Hüseyin reservoir and Fortress.
