Location: This habitation site lies at the meeting point of the provinces of Erzincan; Tunceli; Malatya and Elazig; west of the Euphrates; northeast of the city of Malatya and northwest of the city of Elazig. It is approximately 1;250 m northeast of the village of Ögrendik; formerly called Gerani; which lies north of Agin and between Pulköy and Bahadirlar. So far it has not been possible to determine which province the site is located in. Although the area is locally known as Agtasi; named after Agtasi Tepe; Kökten altered it slightly to Aktas.
Geography and Environment: Processes of erosion and deposition on this elevated terrain have created undulating hills and high plateaus. The surroundings of the site consist of Miocene sediment and limestone.
